When you need to create a SQL query against an Access database where a date-time value is used, you need to make sure the formatting is correct. May 03, 2012 There are some great performance suggestions made by other folks that you should implement in Delphi. You should consider them. I will focus on ADO. You haven't specified what the back end database server is, so I can't be too specific, but there are some things that you should know about ADO. ADO RecordSet. In ADO, there is a RecordSet object.
Quote Nobe, that did not do the trick. I've tried the value of 0, 30, 60, 3660, 32000, and even a 1000000 butnone worked. It still timingout. I even tried a simple ADo connection and a long ado query using VBm and that even bombed out as well. so the problem is not limited to Delphi, but to something that have to do with ODBC files or setup?

This only has an affect when you call the Execute method of the connection itself. Since TADOQuery does not have a published CommandTimeout property, the simplest way to solve your problem might be to use a TADODataSet instead.
Setting TADODataSet.CommandTimeout to a large value (eg. 120 seconds) should do the trick. A value of 0 causes the command to run indefinitely. Stephen Ibin wrote in message news:[email protected]. Nobe, that did not do the trick.

Quote Ibin wrote in message.Anyone knows how to set ADo Query timeout to infinity. I'm running an SQLquery that takes long to finish, and soon after firing up the queryusing the ADOQuery object, I get an error back tells me that timeoutexpired.
Here is the exact message:'Project myapp.exe rasied exception class EOleException with message'MicrosoftODBC SQL Server DriverTimeout expired'.Process stopped.' would anyone happen to know how to resolve this problem.ThanksOB.
Your code example doesn't show how the Recordset gets opened so I can't say forsure why it works for you. However the SDK docs are pretty clear on theCommandTimeout property:'The CommandTimeout setting on a Connection object has no effect on theCommandTimeout setting on a Command object on the same Connection; that is, theCommand object's CommandTimeout property does not inherit the value of theConnection object's CommandTimeout value.' From(and TQuery) always uses a command object to create the recordset soit does not use the CommandTimeout of the connection.Mark.
